How do you get a book into the hands of publishers, and to whom to send the book?
I love writing, and if some of you have noticed I write and I write to answer a question … and is just a passion and I am good at it, and I know that would be a great author … But where do you start to find people to publish your book … I know you can do yourself, but I have not enough money …. I could write really good books that are great Life Time movies … with the life I had and lived, not much to havn not through … then I also know that horror movies are of Back .. so, would love to write something in that neighborhood … What do I do?
I'm glad to read that love writing. Keep it up. If you believe in your writing and invest their time and effort into it, you will find some way of publishing. The type of publication that the company will want to depend on the type of book you are writing. Is it fiction or nonfiction? What genre? What age group is targeted? How long? With enough information, I (or someone like me) could give some specific recommendations. They may also find a copy of the latest edition of the Market as a writer, or perhaps the novel and short story writer's short market. The same editorial writers Digest Books also offers a guide to literary agents. There is also a "for Dummies" book available – Getting Your Book Published for Dummies – that might be useful. Not that I'm calling you a dummy! This series and others like him are for people who want, simple basic information in an easy to use. Respectable publishers are quite selective and usually respond to literary agents representing authors and not unsolicited manuscripts. The agents are not usually interested in the published authors. If you have published other works, however, you can find one willing to work with you. In many cases, it is useful to set aside a larger work – a novel, for example – and publish short fiction, etc, for a time to start a writing career before trying to sell his magnum opus. Almost any book can find its way to pressure somehow. Self-publishing is always an option. If you decide self-publishing, Lulu.com is a great option. As I said, keep writing!
