Breakfast at Tiffany's 3 Stars – (Good)
Was there ever an actress who combined these four timeless qualities-beauty, fashion, grace and humility, better than Audrey Hepburn? I think not, especially when I see it again in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Even an actress who could be similar (and I can think of none) in any way match the humility of Audrey Hepburn. We will not see another like her in our lives and then the movie industry can get a start when some Newer, better technology unknown to us today comes.
All the more reason to buy his five most memorable movies on DVD now as they are still available.
First would be his Oscar-winning Best Actress performance in Roman Holiday Gregory Peck front, which was also his first starring role in an American film.
The next four would be her best actress Oscar nominations for Sabrina, The Nun's Story, Sola in the dark (one of the two scariest movies I've seen) and Breakfast at Tiffany's (the Oscar went to Sophia Loren for Two Women).
Breakfast at Tiffany's had two great assets, Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, the young New York socialite (say high society because this film was released in 1961, 45 years ago) and director Blake Edwards, whose deft, sensitive handling Hepburn character (a high-priced prostitute) could not have done better.
Holly Golightly beauty, fashion sense and pure innocence prohibit me think of her as a woman of the night. She is so inherently stylish. God has not made a woman that could take clothes better than Audrey Hepburn. Has Holly Golightly Givenchy dress floating in the unequaled grace and charm.
Breakfast at Tiffany's is based on the novel by Truman Capote with the screenplay by George Axelrod, who also earned an Oscar nomination. Henry Mancini (music) and Johnny Mercer (lyrics) teamed up to win an Oscar for Original song "Moon River", while Mancini won another Oscar and a Grammy for best musical score.
The story line has two romantic interests depend on others for financial support, Holly like a lady of the night and Paul Varjak (George Peppard), an aspiring writer who remains married Failenson rich and Mrs. (Patricia Neal). Holly and Paul finally experience personal growth and find love together.
There are moments in this film unique to find places in your heart forever. One is Hepburn sitting on the fire escape plaintively singing "Moon River", especially when one considers that the issue of his graduation party school top Moon River, and that you were with the girl who wanted to spend the rest of your life. It is a rare opportunity to hear sing Hepburn in the film.
Recorded choirs singing for her role as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, only to discover that professional "double singing" Marni Nixon had overdubbed all his songs. Hepburn was not nominated for an Oscar for best actress in this film, but his love interest Rex Harrison won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Professor Henry Higgins.
The "little black dress" worn by Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's was designed by Givenchy and sold at an auction at Christie's this year (2006) for $ 920,000 with the proceeds going to help disadvantaged children in India. It was not used by Hepburn in the film. The only two dresses she wore now in the Givenchy archives and the Museum of Costume in Madrid, Spain.
In the performance of Audrey Hepburn there are times when we're delighted with the sweet innocence of a woman. You can not imagine how difficult it is to find in today's world.
Audrey Hepburn became an icon of fashion and beauty, and although she loved fashion, she mounted his importance in it, preferring casual and comfortable away from the bright lights and cameras.
I want to Breakfast at Tiffany's an excellent rating, but can not because of too many flaws in the film. I can easily give a great Audrey Hepburn rating for her performance as Holly Golightly.
After 15 years as a successful actress Audrey Hepburn chose to live a quieter life far from Hollywood. He married twice, first to actor Mel Ferrer and then to Italian doctor Andrea Dotti, and had a son with each.
Hepburn was Belgian birth and grow with her mother in Holland, almost starved during the Nazi occupation in World War II when the Dutch food supplies and fuel were cut. Tragically, he suffered through seeing his uncle and his cousin was shot to death for being part of the Resistance.
He rose from the horrible atrocities of his youth to find fame and fortune in America and in the last four years of his life (1988-1992) became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund).
Only four months before his death from abdominal cancer that went on a mission to Somalia and was devastated to see the nightmare of hunger and carnage.
Audrey Hepburn was the image of beauty, fashion and fun, but not for a minute to let his success go to his head, and without certainly was never a Hollywood lifestyle of depravity exaggerated so evident in today's movies and Tinseltown.
See Breakfast at Tiffany's Audrey Hepburn became a significant contributor to our time and culture. She not only represented the best in professional growth, but made his life a legacy with their personal growth. She was a model of grace and humility in a world with little of either.

Sinful Nuns of St Valentine [VHS] $10.00 Though ostensibly inspired by The Devils of Loudon, the true story of a convent suspected of breeding devil-worshipping acolytes, this purely exploitative example of “nunsploitation” tosses in elements of Edgar Allan Poe, the lurid sex and sadism of Italian exploitation horror, and even a bent variation on Romeo and Juliet. During the Inquisition Era, an innocent boy accused of heresy seeks refug… |

1408 (Full Screen Edition) $1.21 As creepfests go, 1408 is right up there with The Shining, also inspired by a Stephen King work and featuring a menacing hotel and the wobbly sanity of a writer lodging there. “It’s an evil [bleep]-ing room!” intones Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the smooth but vaguely sinister manager of the Dolphin Hotel. John Cusack is stellar as Mike Enslin, a cynical Everyschlub who writes “occult travel guide… |

Also along for the ride are the mysteriously b… |
