In the face of it, a weapon for sale by Graham Greene is a genre thriller, a crime committed by a confessed and declared villain, followed by a chase police. In the hands of a great writer, however, even the clichés of this type can be transformed into a fully satisfying novel.

First published in 1936, a weapon for sale in Europe more than war constantly looming and threatening, a shadow of fear and depression, even more than any interaction human. Graham Greene appears to use this context to the book to make a contribution, however, very subtle point, the assertion that conflicts, including conflicts large and wars, are pursued by interest instigated by an intention to profit. The greater the conflict, the greater the potential profit. As individuals compete for the influence, importance, control and dominance, so do societies, groups, companies, even countries. And some of the players to play dirty, rarely received the deserved justice. When they do, we are satisfied, feeling the same righteousness that could lead to a happy ending.

A gun for sale has several important characters, more than one test can show. Raven is the first we met, the blackness of his name immediately suggesting a feature of the plot, because he is the anti-hero, the murderer who complete the task with blood on the front pages of the book. Lips and always makes her disfigurement suffered from both physical and, as a result of a painful childhood, psychological, suggests a figure that the reader may be invited to despise, perhaps coconut pantomime genre fiction, always accompanied by a fanfare of brand threat.

However, Graham Greene is a writer mundane. We finally get to know well Raven. Although never actually invited him and eventually sympathize with your situation, if only for the fact that there are some apparent social heroes that are actually a damn sight more deserving of our contempt. Raven is betrayed and sets out to locate the author of his humiliation.

Raven leaves a trail and a policeman, Mather, leads to the search. Opportunity for the bride Mather, Anne, takes the same train from London to Nottwich Raven, an industrial city will appear in the chorus line of a pantomime. Cuervo and Ana are located and, seen from a distance tracker, become accomplices.

copper co Mather, Sanders, is a sheet of Raven interest. Both are disfigured. Raven problem is with the look and what I wanted to be rid of cleft lip disfiguring her face, Ana minimizes disfigurement, therefore generate confidence. The police Sanders on the other hand, babbles. It's quick wit, but no voice, and is aware that his disability cost him promotion.

Mr. Davis, also known as Cholmondley, among other things, is the lackey of fat used by Sir Marcus. The latter is a businessman who owns a Nottwich steel plant in a business that has seen better times. Mr. Davis is a creep law, in relation to girls theater as a fair game, regular picking and persuading dirty room that rents for a couple truly surreal to protect their reputation. Sir Marcus Mason is barely clinging to life, but retains enough pride, or malice, perhaps, to inflict untold suffering to others, simply to maintain their own status in a future that does not have.

And Raven Cholmondley pursues, who meets Marcus. Mather and Saunders pursue Raven, and Anne seems to side with everyone. And it all works out.

But much more Graham Greene tell a story. Through simple language and structure, and through a plot that the grace of a B-Movie best that penetrates the psyche of his characters, places them in social class and history, and handles with a deft lightness of touch to convey a strong sense of place, setting and context. Through its built simple prose, we see people, places and events of a multiplicity of perspectives and are left with a complexity of associations with all the characters. And that, precisely cliché is why far behind.

Michael, a missionary priest, has just killed Munyasya. It was an accident, but Mulonzya, a politician, exploits the tragedy for his own ends. Boniface, a church worker, has just lost his child. He did not make it to the hospital in time, possibly because Michael went to the Mission to retrieve a letter from Janet, a teacher, and the priest’s neighbour. It is Munyasya who has the last laugh, however.
