Sound design creating impact in horror movies

The importance of the horrifying sound designs cannot be emphasized any better than in videos and presentations that have horror or crime as their core topic. A horror sound effect is a fairly new musical genre. Scary sounds such as Crash, Boom! Bang! Clicked! Swoosh! Clack! make horror movies so much fun. The main purpose of any horror movie is to scare us, and to do this, proper sound effects should fit the action so well. For me watching a horror movie without any sound effect is not sufficient to put an ice on my spin but the creation of sound designs and the application of sound effects makes my heart palpitates. Horror sounds, being the main highlight in a horror movie; it adds to the ambiance of the season. Everyone would appreciate hearing the scary noises of the chilling laughter of an evil ghost or horror monster or the fluttering wings of bats and owls or the creaking of a door being opened.

Sound designs and its effects inspire us to do great fears of our own, and they quite simply take us to other worlds, more intense and fascinating than our own realities may be. A big impact in horror movies is because of advances in audio technology. With the arrival of advanced audio techniques in a scene or movies we have started to respond more towards fear. Some sound effects, as opposed to music have become so popular due to their applicability and distinctness. Every famous horror movie sequence has its own unique sound score and instantly recognizable sound effects attached to it. Imagine watching Psycho or a sequel from Child’s Play, Saw, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Grudge, The Ring, The Mummy and many more; all of them showed advances in sound design technology.

In horror films, the most overlooked aspect is the sounds cape. We all know, without any auditory features or sound effects, the fear factor of almost any horror movies would decrease dramatically. The well-composed music and the style of horror film music create a complete and truly frightening horror film experience. Basically plot for any horror movies revolve around themes of mental illness, death or the supernatural; therefore the sounds used are more powerful. Today modern movies have come up with great horror films which entertain us with great visual effects, sound effects, as well as great make-up.
