For generations, the name has been synonymous with Bram Stoker's gothic horror. His name was even in the titles of movies – that is, the 1992 Bram Stoker's Dracula. But few people know much about Bram Stoker, who I was, what he did, in addition to Dracula, and what he liked.

Born in Clontarf in Dublin, Ireland on November 8, 1847, Stoker became enamored of the theater at an early age. A friend helped him secure a position as a critic Theatre for the Dublin Evening Mail, a position that has little respect today. However, their comments are noted for their quality and flow of his writing, and which led to an introduction to the famous actor Henry Irving. Stoker soon joined Irving as his personal assistant, which led him to manage the Lyceum Theatre Irving in London. He spent his free time working on short stories and novels.

A friend of Oscar Wilde and Hall Caine, Bram began publishing stories and novels, them horror novels such as The Lady of the Shroud and The Lair of the White Worm. However, it is best known for his masterpiece, Dracula. A summary of folklore and Victorian Gothic writing, the novel was a huge critical success before becoming a very popular work as the next generation fell in love with the story of the invention, well-wrought prose.

In 1924, 12 years after the death of Bram Stoker, Hamilton Deane received permission Stoker farm to turn the novel into a play. Deane himself with the Dutch as Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, the game was a huge success and was brought to New York. Hungary leading U.S. production stage actor Bela Lugosi in his first major American stage.
