It seems almost impossible to imagine today that Star Wars is a very important part of our culture and history of the Star Wars films before hitting the screens in May 1977 was considered a long shot that never took much less become the great success that it did. But since George Lucas has a vision of Star Wars and began drafting the script from the beginning, it was clear this was going to be a movie that is unlike anything ever seen before.
George Lucas was not a new kid in the block in Hollywood when he began to seek their majestic space trilogy, Star Wars, made. While he was not the center of Hollywood is now, I had some credibility after making the delicious and successful American Graffiti. But even in that early movie making experience, Lucas is shown themselves himself as a visionary like American Graffiti became the launching of the '50s nostalgia trend, separated in the success of "Happy Days" program TV and launched the brilliant career of Harrison Ford.
You would think that with success, studies that have been the genius of George Lucas and embraced Star Wars. But from the beginning, Star Wars is a game of chance. The vision was unique and untried and studies, which means risk. Too often takes the groundbreaking and bold, not successful in financially. Studies like to go with things that will make money for sure. That's why study after study rejected the chance to do Star Wars, although Universal Studios, which made American Graffiti, passed over it because they said it was a "dumb idea." There is no doubt that the special effects of Star Wars have much to do with its mass appeal. Nobody has ever seen such realistic effects before. If you can remember the first time I saw Episode 4, the first Star Wars leave at that time in the beginning when you see that big Star Destroyer is one that literally takes your breath away. And the effects were just incredible the way to the scene of the battle to the end where the audience literally feel like they're there in the battle with Luke Skywalker, using force to bomb the enemy starship and escape the fireball burst across the screen. It was a triumph of cinema.
We can all be thankful that one of the study and were sufficiently incredible filmmaker brave enough to make a film that is unlike any before it. We, the movie going public, he received this wonderful series to enjoy Star Wars and share with our children for generations to come and film industry would not be the same because they took that opportunity.
